Beneath its exterior, the new BMW 2 Series Convertible inspires with a dynamic core. The driving experience is noticeably defined by the unmistakable BMW genes: rear-wheel drive, near-perfect axle load distribution and direct, sporty steering characteristics. The result is optimum handling, exciting agility and roaring acceleration.

Especially agile dynamics and effortless handling are hallmarks of the new BMW 2 Series Convertible produced by BMW rear-wheel drive, Driving Experience Control, the optional sports steering and the near-perfect 50:50 axle load distribution unique in this class. And they are particularly apparent when a sporty style is adopted.

Thanks to electronically regulated shock absorbers, Adaptive M suspension automatically adjusts to suit the driving style and road conditions. The 10mm lowering increases the sporty agility and activating SPORT mode via the Driving Experience Control selects a noticeably stiffer damper tuning. In SPORT+ mode, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) is active instead of DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), enabling an even more sporty style.

Variable Sport Steering with Servotronic ensures direct, agile driving behaviour with little steering effort. It reacts to the steering angle with differing steering ratios, thus improving handling during sports-style driving and reducing steering effort when parking and turning.

BMW TwinPower Turbo engines


The BMW TwinPower Turbo engines of the new BMW 2 Series Convertible offer an inspiring mix of performance, acceleration and efficiency. Unmistakable trademarks of boundless driving pleasure are the spontaneous response and the spirited power build-up – even in the range of low revs. At its peak, the BMW 230i delivers 185kW. With TwinScroll turbocharger featuring Valvetronic, double VANOS and petrol direct injection, this engine offers a maximum torque of 350Nm from an engine speed of only 1,450rpm. A host of BMW EfficientDynamics measures additionally ensure low fuel consumption and fewer CO2 emissions. 

8-speed Sport automatic transmission



The 8-speed sport automatic transmission allows an especially high level of gear-changing and driving comfort thanks to the narrow spread of gear ratios and minimised rev intervals. This combines maximum comfort with the sensation of impressive dynamics and low fuel consumption.

In combination with Adaptive M suspension, SPORT mode offers sportier suspension tuning combined with a stiffer damper setting. It ensures a more spontaneous response from the drive system and steering, as well as unlimited driving fun.

The optimum choice for sporty driving at the limits and the best possible performance is the SPORT+ mode. This is because the minimised rev intervals between the gears enable acceleration with an especially high level of thrust. Furthermore, the DTC function (Dynamic Traction Control) comes into action, giving the drive wheels even better slip.

COMFORT mode allows smooth gear-shifting with a lower level of revs for relaxed and easy travelling. In combination with Adaptive M suspension, it ensures that any unevenness on the road remains practically unnoticed.

In ECO PRO mode, efficiency is increased by avoiding downshifts and the coasting function is activated, which allows the vehicle to roll along with especially low resistance by disengaging the engine. This reduces consumption considerably and significantly increases the range.
